Four detached guest suites can also be found within the grounds

The Grade II listed building also boasts modern features including an indoor swimming pool and a plant-filled conservatory.

With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the interior of the cottage is largely decorated in neutral tones.

‘I shall miss everything about my home, from its quintessential English charm, its quirkiness, it’s all enveloping peace to the glorious setting and the swimming pool surrounded by plants,’ said Ms Richmond.

‘The property is so very unique, and I have loved it and dedicated more than half of my life to its care.

‘It has been so much more than just a house to me’, she said.

Fiona Richmond made her film debut in the 1971 erotic film ‘Not Tonight, Darling’ and played several larger roles in the years to follow, in films such as Expose, Let’s Get Laid and Eat the Rich.

Ms Richmond added: ‘With oodles of character and charm, this home is perfect for living life and entertaining.

‘My favourite room is the pool room, a plant filled conservatory with a swimming pool bordered by an ancient flint and brick wall.

‘A vine meanders around the room.

‘I love to sit there in the evenings amongst the yucca, geraniums and jasmine, or swim alone by candlelight in utter peace and quiet.

‘Fabulous parties have been hosted here, with tables stretching the whole length of the pool and candles floating on the water.’

Ms Richmond’s property is being listed by Fine & Country

For the entrepreneurial-minded, the property presents a business opportunity, with Fiona having run her very own Bed and Breakfast, ‘The Onion Store,’ from the comfort of her own home.

Four detached guest suites can also be found within the grounds.

‘The property provides the perfect business opportunity if that appeals,’ said Fiona.

‘For years I ran The Onion Store, a very successful Bed & Breakfast which was featured on many BBC holiday programmes.

‘Guests stayed in the converted outbuildings and loved having their own period property with their own ‘secret’ garden.

‘This arrangement works well when friends are staying as they can have their privacy and we can all come together in the main house.’
