Innocent family members linked to the murder of Keane Mulready-Woods have reportedly been "threatened" and "harassed".

Police are investigating claims that a number of innocent female relatives linked to the suspect have been targeted, the Irish Independent reports.

The women are believed to of been singled out for no other reason than their blood ties to a man who may have been involved in the killing of Keane Mulready-Woods.

Keane’s barbaric murder shocked the country, and devastated his family, who last saw him on January 12.

The following night, a bag with the 17-year-old’s arms and legs were thrown from a car in Coolock, Dublin.

Keane’s hands, feet, and decapitated head were then found in a burning car near Croke Park two days later.

His death has been linked to the vicious Irish Drogheda feud and is thought to have been financed by a businessmen known for gun-for-hire kills.

Two men have been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder and were detained at Drogheda and Balbriggan Garda stations on the 20th February.

The threats are said to of caused distress to those involved and has unsettled the wider community.

The men can be detained for up to seven days without charge as the legislation used to arrest the pair is used to deal with suspected gang crime.

Detectives are believed to be working on the theory Keane was stabbed to death and later dismembered in a house.

The teen's funeral took place in Drogheda, Co Louth, last week, one month after the boy's death.

Pictures showed a hearse carrying Keane's coffin with crowds following and others showed the coffin being carried out of a church.
