Facebook removed 1.5million videos of Christchurch mosque attack in the 24 hours after the shooting
FACEBOOK said it removed 1.5million videos of the attack worldwide in the 24 hours after the shootings.
Mia Garlick, of Facebook New Zealand, said: “We continue to work around the clock to remove violating content using a combination of technology and people.
“Out of respect for the people affected by this tragedy and the concerns of local authorities, we’re also removing all edited versions that do not show graphic content.” Despite the efforts of Facebook and other tech giants, the video continues to be widely available online.
Chancellor Philip Hammond said: “The big media companies have to do more.”
The footage of the killer’s attack was live-streamed on Facebook for 17 minutes.
