An ominous warning has been issued to the ex-leader of the Russian Wagner mercenary group after this weekend's failed coup.

In a bizarre twist to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Putin's days looked numbered on Saturday as Yevgeny Prigozhin and his 'skinhead zombie troops' looked like taking Moscow and ousting the president Vladimir Putin.

However, after taking Rostov-on-Don, the feared brigade suddenly halted their advance on Moscow, with Prigozhin saying he wanted to avoid 'spilling Russian blood'.

After some negotiations between the Kremlin and Prigozhin, the rebel leader was then shipped off to Belarus and the Wagner group was disbanded, with its hordes of criminals-turned-fighters being absorbed by Russia's army.

And while most assume the mad saga is over, the fate of Prigozhin – a former chef – is not so clear.

Speaking to Kay Burley on Sky News, Conservative MP for Bournemouth East and the Chairman of the House of Commons Defence Select Committee, Tobias Ellwood issued a chilling warning to the man.

He said: “If I was him, I would be very careful what I ate and where I went.

“Putin mops up any dissenting voices himself – he will be plotting.

“What he did in the last few days didn't happen instantaneously.

“It has been building for months and months and months.

“His voice is still very active indeed, and he's a very powerful influencer – and he is a very dangerous man.

“(It gives) huge concerns for the West as we see this superpower unravel – a superpower with nuclear weapons.”

Prigozhin's exile to Belarus caught many off guard, however a video has since emerged of the man in a car on his way to Belarus.

With car horns blaring behind him, he was asked how he thought the attempted coup went.

He replied: “Ok, everyone was cheered up.”

Putin has passed no comment since the saga ended.
