Elon Musk: ‘Alcohol is a solution’ – SpaceX CEO’s latest Twitter riddle baffles fans

On Sunday night Mr Musk tweeted: “Technically, alcohol is a solution.” One savvy Twitter follower managed to solve the pun in Mr Musk’s Twitter riddle. The Twitter user said: “Technically, alcoholic drinks are solutions.

“Pure alcohol is a solvent.

“Ethanol plus water is confusing because both are solvents.”

Many of the SpaceX CEO’s Twitter following were quick to conclude that the SpaceX CEO was making a cryptic statement about the use of ethanol in his rockets.

While another Twitter follower was concerned for Mr Musk’s well being, they said: “Alcohol is a solution to every alcoholic before they realise their alcoholic.”

This week Elon Musk unveiled his most groundbreaking project yet.

This was a computer chip connected to exceptionally slender wires with electrodes on them, all of which were embedded in a person’s brain by a surgical robot.

The implant would connect wirelessly to a small behind-the-ear receiver that could communicate with a computer.

Mr Musk hopes the implant, created by his brain-computer interface startup Neuralink, could one day help quadriplegics control smartphones, and perhaps even endow users with a sort of telepathy.

Like existing brain-machine interfaces, it would collect electrical signals sent out by the brain and interpret them as actions.

Neuralink, which was founded in 2016, has already tested an early, wired version of this implant in rats and Mr Musk indicated it has enabled a monkey to control a computer with his brain.

Mr Musk said human trials could start by the end of next year, though the company doesn’t yet have approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for such a study.

Neuralink could, in the coming years, be a boon for people with conditions such as quadriplegia, enabling increased independence and ushering potentially life-transforming technology out of the lab and into the real world.
