Dump truck spills diesel in crash off Highway 115 in Peterborough
One person was taken to hospital after a dump truck crashed off Highway 115 in Peterborough on Monday morning.
Peterborough Police and Peterborough County OPP say that just before 6:30 a.m., a southbound dump truck veered off the Highway 115 overpass, crashed through guard rails and ended up in a ditch near Bensfort and Kennedy roads.
Firefighters extricated the driver, who was then taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with minor injuries, OPP said.
Cleanup of a large diesel spill is underway.
The City of Peterborough’s public works department is at the scene as there are concerns the diesel could flow to a nearby municipal storm drain. One lane of Bensfort Road is closed.
The Ministry of the Environment has been contacted to investigate.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
