Drivers forced to fork out £135 for eight hours in UK's most expensive car park

DRIVERS have to pay £135 for eight hours in Britain’s most expensive car park.

And if they leave their car there for 24 hours, it will set them back £455.

The short-stay Lime Street Station car park in Liverpool was named the dearest in research by car finance firm Zuto.

But its operator — Apcoa — says it’s free for the first 20 minutes and is not meant for long periods as there is a multi-storey nearby.

A spokesman for Zuto, which looked at parking in 40 cities, said: “Unsurprisingly, the City of London is still the most expensive on average.”

Average city parking costs for eight hours:

  1. London, £53.80
  2. Liverpool, £43.60
  3. Brighton, £29
  4. Manchester, £28
  5. Birmingham, £26.20
  6. Leeds, £25.20
  7. Bristol, £25.20
  8. York, £23.60
  9. Leicester, £21.20
  10. Sheffield, £19.90
