A driver in Germany has been seen hitting more than 230mph along an almost empty motorway that was left deserted during the coronavirus lockdown.
A video of a Ferrari LaFerrari tearing along the autobahn was posted on social media last week.
The clip showed the sports car’s dashboard as the engine roared and accelerated towards its top speed.
A social media video of the journey along the German Autobahn recorded the Ferrari LaFerrari as it raced towards its top speed
The vehicle, worth around £1.7million, was travelling along an unrestricted portion of the freeway when the footage was recorded.
As the car raced beyond 217mph and 224mph it eventually past two other vehicles on the nearly empty carriageway.
At one point the camera dropped down to reveal the famous Ferrari badge on the steering wheel.
The autobahn was so deserted the driver could stay in the middle lane as trees and buildings at the side of the road whizzed out of view.
Video of the journey was released on Instagram and has so far had more than 84,000 views.
A Ferrari LaFerrari can hit 62 miles per hour in less than three seconds and has a V12 exhaust.
Very few vehicles could bee seen on the autobahn as the Ferrari travelled along the motorway
The Italian manufacturer ended LaFerrari production in 2016 when the company began producing the open-top Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta.
Germany today announced it is re-opening shops as it takes the first steps out of the virus lockdown as it recorded an increase of 110 deaths.
The country today reported 1,775 new virus cases to bring the total from 139,897 to 141,672, marking the smallest increase since 1,042 positive tests were added to the tally on March 18.
Germany’s 1.3 per cent increase in cases is the lowest since the crisis began.
