Driver dies after crashing into tree in Longmont

A 59-year-old man died Tuesday morning when he crashed his truck into a tree in Longmont.

The crash occurred at 7:33 a.m. Tuesday on Hover Street near Nelson Road, according to Longmont Public Safety spokesperson Robin Ericson.

Police believe the driver, from Westminster, veered off the road, then hit a tree and suffered fatal injuries. Police did not say if the man was declared dead on scene, or later in the day.

Hover Street was closed northbound for four hours while officers were at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the driver.
