Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus just one month shy of the US election on November 3. The US President is said to be in “good spirits” after contracting the virus but has been sent to Walter Reed military hospital as a ”precaution” the White House has announced tonight. Express.co.uk has compiled a timeline to explain where the couple were ahead of their positive test result.

There is just one month until Americans head to the polls to vote in the next US presidential election on November 3.

Donald Trump and his wife Melania, like their opponents Joe Biden and his wife Jill, have been busy on the campaign trail.

President Trump will be moved to a military hospital as a precaution following his positive coronavirus test result.

He will remain at the hospital for a “few days” on the advice of doctors.

A White House statement said: “Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the President will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days.”

On Saturday, September 26, Mr Trump held a reception for evangelical faith leaders inside the Oval Office.

The US President held a press conference in the Rose Garden at the White House and travelled to Pennsylvania for a rally that evening before returning to the White House at 10pm.

Mr Trump held a news conference at the White House on Sunday, September 27.

After which he and Melania held a reception for Gold Star families.

Gold Star families are relatives of US military members who died in battle.

On Monday, Mr Trump remained at the White House, appearing only once that day to deliver his daily coronavirus briefing from the Rose Garden.

During this briefing, administration officials such as Vice President Mike Pence, members of Congress and other state officials attended the briefing.

Mr Trump also surveyed a truck which was produced by Lordstown Motors on the south lawn with two members of Congress and three representatives from the manufacturer that day.

President Trump and Melania travelled to Cleveland in Ohio for the first televised presidential debate on Tuesday.

They travelled to the debate on Air Force One with Mr Trump’s campaign staff.

The debate pitted Mr Trump against the Democratic hopeful Mr Biden, was moderated by Fox News anchor Chris Wallance and was only watched by a small audience.

Mr Biden today confirmed he and his wife have tested negative for the virus.

The Trump couple’s children and senior staff members also attended the debate.

Mr Trump and his family returned to the White House by 12.30am on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the president and his wife travelled to Minnesota for a fundraiser.

Mr Trump attended the rally in the city of Duluth with a campaign party on Marine One and Air Force One.

The President’s aide is thought to have felt ill on the way home to the White House and therefore was quarantined on Air Force One on the journey back.

Everyone returned to the White House by 1am on Thursday.

The US President and the first lady travelled to Bedminster in New Jersey on October 1, without his aide Hope Hicks who was self-isolating.

The couple attended New Jersey for a round table event and a fundraiser.

Several members of Mr Trump’s campaign party who were in close proximity to the President’s aide decided not to attend the event.

The Trump couple returned to the White House by 6.30pm and he delivered a live broadcast address to the annual Alfred E. Smith memorial foundation dinner in New York.

After a Fox News address, Mr Trump confirmed Ms Hicks had tested positive for the virus and said he and Melania were now self-isolating.

He tweeted: “Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for COVID-19.

“Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!”

Mr Trump confirmed his and Melania’s diagnosis around 1am on Friday, October 2.

He tweeted: “Tonight @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”

The couple are said to be doing “well at this time” and plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.
