A man has hilariously trained his cat to be like a dog after being persuaded to get the feline by his wife.

Reddit user hbouwers shared a comical clip earlier today (October 9) showing his cat playing fetch.

The black and white moggy is seen chasing after objects before immediately running back and dropping them at the feet of its owner owner.

In the caption to the video, the owner explained: “My wife wanted a cat. I wanted a dog. So now we have a cat that plays fetch.”

And it has proven hugely popular online, already receiving more than 74,000 upvotes in a matter of hours.

One viewer wrote: “In my amateur experience as an intensely judgmental person of cats, you sir, have won the cat lottery. My all time favourite two cats were both fetch players, and wonderful cats.”

“Best of both worlds then,” another said. “What you essentially have is a quiet and sort of self-cleaning dog.”

Others chimed in with stories over their own pets doing similar things.

“I have a dog operating system that runs on cat hardware,” one joked. “His name is Binx and he loves belly rubs, food, fetch, and to sleep with our dog.”

Someone else commented: “My oldest girl loves playing fetch with these fuzzy ball things and my youngest with hair ties! God I love cats so much.”

And a third added: “My cat would play fetch, she played better than the dog.”

It comes after an adorable rescue kitten that was adopted by two dogs now thinks it’s a pooch too.
