Doctor savagely stabbed 16-year-old girl to death in her bed hours after she accused him of sexual assault on Instagram – The Sun
AN EVIL doctor savagely stabbed a 16-year-old girl to death in her bed just hours after she accused him of sexual assault on Instagram.
Amber-Rose Rush was found dead by her mum after being stabbed multiple times by Venod Skantha – including an 11cm slash wound across her neck that had severed her ear and artery.
Skantha, 32, has been found guilty murdering Amber-Rose, in February last year.
He broke into her family home in Dunedin, New Zealand at around midnight, shortly after the screenshots of private messages between them were shared by the teen victim.
MOLESTED MONTH BEFORE MURDER
Amber-Rose's friends told the court the doctor was "fascinated" by her.
According to the New Zealand Herald, he was a heavy drinker who had begun socialising with younger people.
It has been reported that the pair were friends, but it came to an abrupt end when he offered her £10,000 for sex.
The pair spent a lot of time together over the coming months, with the teen's friends describing Skantha's interest in her as "creepy".
She told me she'd woken up with her bra off and Vinny's hand down her pants. I don't believe she was lying to me
However in January 2018, just a month before her murder, the pair had an argument, after which the teen told her friends she woke up in Skantha's house to find him molesting her.
The witness, a teenage boy and mutual friend of theirs, told the court: "She told me she'd woken up with her bra off and Vinny's hand down her pants.
"I don't believe she was lying to me."
During the trial, the court heard Skantha offered money to the teen to have sex with him, which the defence agreed had happened, reported New Zealand Herald.
The witness told the court: "Initially it was $2000 and then it went up to $20,000 when she denied him.
"She told me she ended up slapping him in the face and getting herself picked up and leaving as soon as possible."
BRUTAL MURDER
The ordeal prompted the pair to stop speaking with each other, until Skantha messaged the teen on February 2 after an online purchase was made using his credit card.
The late teen denied making the purchase.
Skantha then told her to stop spreading rumours about his behaviour.
She responded with a message which read: "Stuff doesn't mean s**t when you did that to me, wasn't talking s**t hun you should own up to what you did, fkn perv.
"You're lucky I don't go into the hospital and tell them how you turn up to work drunk, and supply minors with alcohol, touch them up without consent, grow up vinny you're 30 for f**k sakes."
The late teen proceeded to post screenshots of their heated conversation to her Instagram.
The pair's mutual friend – the prosecution's star witness – then alerted Skantha to the posts.
Her last message to Skantha read: "You know what you were doing when you did it. For that you deserve everything you're gonna get."
Just 30 minutes after sending that message, she was murdered.
The unnamed witness said Skantha was dressed in dark clothing and seemed "focused but chill".
He told the court: "Literally I just thought he was going to go in and yell at her."
Skantha stabbed Amber-Rose repeatedly, leaving her to bleed to death in her bedroom.
He and the teenager then drove south to Balclutha where they lit a bonfire so Skantha could burn his clothes.
A jury in the Dunedin High Court, New Zealand, also convicted him on four counts of threatening to kill.
Skantha was remanded in custody and is set to be sentenced on March 6.
