Disabled Chelsea fan, 9, injured after smoke bomb thrown from Liverpool end

Donte Patterson-Stanley was rushed to Anfield’s first aid area after inhaling smoke during the home side’s 2-0 win over the Blues, his mum said.

Medics immediately put him on a nebuliser after he experienced red, itchy eyes and was coughing constantly.

His mum said the experience left him “confused and anxious”.

Frances Stanley told MailOnline: “Shortly after the smoke bomb was thrown into the away end, my son’s eyes went quite red and itchy and very watery.

“He was coughing non-stop and sneezing which he wasn’t doing just beforehand.

“My son has special needs with developmental delays. It was all a bit much for him and with him not understanding what was going on, he became very anxious.”

She added the boy was sick on the coach on the way home.

Frances also praised staff who acted swiftly, and said her son has made a full recovery.

The Reds kept their title hopes alive with the win over the FA Cup winners.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring, before Mo Salah secured three points with an emphatic long-range strike.

Today Liverpool will mark the 30th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster with a minute’s silence held at 3.06pm, the time the fatal 1989 fixture was halted.

Yesterday, fans held up cards to produce a stunning mosaic showing the number 96, marking the tragic death toll.

Daily Star Online has approached Liverpool for a response.
