Desperate England fans fleeced for £15k tickets to Euro final on resale sites

England fans desperate to attend the Euro 2020 final are set to be fleeced for more than £15,000 per ticket on reseller websites.

The Three Lions qualified for a first major tournament final in 55 years with a dramatic extra-time win against Denmark at Wembley.

For many supporters it will be the first major final of their lifetime but for those still looking for a coveted ticket to the massive encounter with Italy, it could hit them hard in the pocket.

Tickets are being sold for as much as £15,656 each for a pair of hospitality tickets on the site LiveFootballTickets, adding up to a staggering £31,312.

There are scores of other tickets on sale for more than £10,000 each.

Two seats being flogged as a pair on ticketing site Ticombo are being flogged for a staggering £28,000, working out at £14,000 per seat.

Other tickets are being sold for £12,500, £11,150 and £9,500.

The eye-watering sums of money reflect the fact that all the tickets released by UEFA to the general public so far have been snapped up.

There may still be tickets returning to the UEFA portal between now and Sunday's final against Italy.

Regulations put in place by European football's governing body UEFA ban the resale of tickets above their face value and there is a chance fans who buy them will not be allowed in.

Resale sites and touts are cashing in on England's biggest football match since the 1966 World Cup final with large sections of the country desperate for a historic ticket.

Other fans on social media are selling tickets for thousands of pounds online.

Matt Willis of fan group Football Supporters Europe urged people to persevere with UEFA's official site rather than go hunting for resale tickets.

He said: "Demand is through the roof. You have got to be patient and determined with the UEFA portal. Don't give up. Keep going."

Ticombo and LiveFootballTickets have been contacted for comment.

There will be more than 60,000 spectators present at Wembley on Sunday for what promises to be a momentous occasion.

While the capacity is currently three quarters full — in line with current coronavirus regulations — it has been suggested that this will be increased to the full capacity in the coming days, implying that more official tickets could become available.
