Met Office officials have released a yellow warning for the Midlands on Thursday, encompassing Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield and Lincoln.
According to the warning, people in the area can expect potential flooding to homes and businesses, with delays to transport and power cuts.
Officials have also warned of a “danger to life” and chances of communities being cut off by rising floodwaters.
Some homes and businesses may be left without power.
The Met Office warned some 15 to 20 mm of rain could be poured down on the area.
They said: “A period of heavy rain may affect the area through Thursday, bringing further disruption.
“Uncertainty in the location of any heavier rainfall is high, though, with ongoing flooding across the area, even relatively small amounts of rain may cause significant impacts.
“15-25 mm of rainfall is possible by the end of Thursday.”
