David Beckham admits using mobile while driving £100k Bentley, police say
DAVID Beckham has today admitted driving his flash £100,000 Bentley while using a mobile phone.
The former England captain was charged after being spotted by a passer-by as he drove through London's West End last November.
Police confirmed he had pleaded guilty by post – eight weeks after a speeding rap against him was dismissed on a technicality.
He had the option of admitting the alleged offence by letter or contesting the charge at a public hearing.
The dad-of-four – worth more than £300million – faces six penalty points and a £200 fine at an administrative private hearing at Bromley Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
The Sun revealed last month that Becks, 43, was spotted making a call in his motor in November by an onlooker who called police.
'SHIRKING RESPONSIBILITY'
The former Man Utd star was caught just two months after he was accused of "shirking his responsibility" as a role model after avoiding prosecution on a speeding charge.
Beckham enlisted the services of celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman, who is dubbed "Mr Loophole", and got off on a technicality.
He was accused of driving at 59mph in a 40mph zone on the A40 in Paddington, West London, in 23 January last year.
But in September District Judge Barbara Barnes dismissed the case at Wimbledon magistrates court.
An assistant at the Bentley office where the car was lease was “100 per cent confident” the speeding notice did not arrive until the day after the 14-day window.
Mr Loophole also overturned an eight-month driving ban in 1999 after arguing that the footballer was trying to escape a paparazzi photographer.
Scotland Yard said today: "The Met understands a postal guilty plea was subsequently received by Bromley Magistrates' Court."
