Dad finds daughter, 25, ‘being raped in back of Uber’ after tracking her down with app

“We will release more information as the investigation progresses but it is vital at this time to withhold specific details to allow our detectives to continue their investigation.” 

Uber is aware of the incident and has since fired the driver in question. 

The company said in a statement: “What’s been reported is appalling beyond words. We removed the driver from the app as soon as this report was sent to us. 

“We will work with police on their investigation.”

Authorities believe the Saturday attack is an isolated incident and there are not thought to be other victims. 

In 2017, Uber introduced safeguards to reduce the risk of sexual assault – including a way to dial 911 through the app. 

It also conducts criminal checks on drivers and their vehicles. 

Customers have the option of designating friends and family to track their rides.
