CSU professor Boris Kondratieff arrested as suspect in child pornography case

A professor at Colorado State University has been arrested as a suspect in a child pornography case.

Boris Kondratieff was arrested on Jan. 29 by Fort Collins police on a warrant, according to arrest records.

Kondratieff has been charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child — video 20-plus items, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child possession of material, according to court records.

A professor of entomology and director of the 3 million specimen C. P. Gillette Museum of Arthropod Diversity at CSU, Kondratieff has been placed on leave by the university. He is prohibited “from interacting with CSU students, engaging in CSU outreach activities, and being on CSU grounds,” CSU said in a statement.

In October 2020, school officials received a report from a CSU employee who “believed that he saw sexually explicit images of children” on Kondratieff’s computer and a criminal investigation was launched, the university said.

Kondratieff, who is free on bond, has a court hearing scheduled for Feb. 22.
