Crook swipes knife in Target, uses it to aid escape

A man swiped a knife from a Manhattan Target store — and then used it to threaten customers as he fled, police said Monday.

The crook was at the East 14th Street location near Avenue A in Alphabet City at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he grabbed a kitchen knife along with a computer keyboard and mouse, police said.

When he tried to run off with the stolen goods, a store loss prevention worker blocked his path and the two began arguing.

That’s when the thief ripped off the packaging and brandished the knife, police said, pulling it on the employee and threatening nearby customers.

He then beat a path out of the store with the knife and electronics in tow, officials said. No arrests have been made, and no one was injured in the clash.

Police describe the man as bald and in his mid 40’s. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, white shorts and white sneakers.
