Couple caught having sex at cricket club by girl, 11, claim ‘they’d spilt a can of coke’

“Mum, are they doing what I think they’re doing?”

Egan went on: “At this point, Mr Baker pulled up his trousers. Ms McCann made no effort to put her clothes on.”

But the pair claimed that it was all an innocent mistake.

McCann, a dinner lady from Crosby, told police that Baker had spilt a can of coke over her and she had been trying to change her clothes.

She told cops that although she was topless she had kept her knickers on.

The court heard that the couple had known each other when they were young, but bumped into each other by chance recently at Everton’s Goodison Park.

This chance encounter led to a six-month affair.

Nick Archer, defending Baker, said the pair did not have sex in the car.

He explained how Baker opened a can of coke in the car which went all over McCann.

Baker had spare clothes, so they pulled into the overflow car park at the cricket club to get changed.

But when she started to get changed “one thing led to another,” he went on.

Archer said that although the mum and daughter thought the couple were having sex, “it may have looked like it, but it was not actual sex”.

He added: “It was a number of coincidences. One thing led to another, but it was short of intercourse.

“Obviously my client is full of shame and embarrassment. He has had to explain it to his family.”

Baker, of Southport, and McCann both pleaded guilty to outraging public decency on Wednesday.

They were ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work each.

The pair were also told to pay £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £85.
