Cops in Dominican Republic retrieve wreckage from NY couple’s fatal crash
Police in the Dominican Republic have retrieved the mangled, almost unrecognizable car that was driven by New York couple Orlando Moore and Portia Ravenelle when they suffered their fatal crash last month.
The cliffside recovery was documented in a series of photos, which were captured and released by the Agence France Presse.
According to the outlet, authorities pulled the wreckage from the Caribbean Sea on Friday.
Moore and Ravenelle were on their way to the airport when they somehow went over the side of a cliff in the northeast section of the Dominican Republic on March 27.
Local fishermen reportedly found their a car and told police, who later recovered a body that appeared to be Moore’s. A woman who had been rushed to an area hospital with injuries — and is believed to be Ravenelle — died four days after the crash, according to cops.
Authorities have been working to determine whether the fingerprints from the two bodies match the couple’s. Moore and Ravenelle are from Mount Vernon.
