Colorado Parks and Wildlife executed a rescue fit for Independence Day when they responded to an injured bald eagle on the Fourth of July.

Wildlife officers came to the bird’s aid after the fledgling had been behaving strangely for the past couple days in southern Douglas County, CPW said.

Officers captured the injured eaglet, wrapping its body in a towel and placing it inside a carrier. The eagle was taken to Birds of Prey Foundation, a Broomfield-based nonprofit dedicated to rehabilitating and releasing injured and orphaned birds.

The bird will be treated for a possible head injury, CPW said.

“No foul (or fowl) play suspected,” CPW said in a Tweet.
