Chris Eubank speaks out on rumours he’s about to be cast as the next James Bond

The 52-year-old was described as a “national treasure” in a Change.org petition to see him starring in the lucrative Hollywood role.

Eubank, who used to live in Brighton, East Sussex, is the third best British super-middleweight boxer of all time, as ranked by BoxRec.

He was world champion for more than five years and was undefeated in his first 10 years as a professional.

The ex-boxer said he would “love” take the 007 role after Daniel Craig retires as James Bond.

“I played the longest running villain in boxing history so that would also be amazing,” he said.

“To do the role, you have to have total commitment to your character and I have shown I can do that.”

The petition has so far gained 732 signatures.

“Chris Eubank is not only a national treasure but also one who has seen action for most of his life, and his larger-than-life personality would be perfect as the next James Bond,” it states.

One person commented: “Chris is not only a legend in the entertainment world, but also a fighting hero, making him a great candidate to be the next bond.”

Another fan said: “I believe in Eubank, Chris Eubank. Eubank your money on him and he’ll secure Oscar gold.”

Meanwhile, rumours in Hollywood suggest actress Lashana Lynch could become the next 007, but not the next Bond.
