FOR the second day running China has recorded just one new domestic coronavirus case.

The infection was recorded in Wuhan, the virus's birthplace.

A domestic case means the infection was transmitted inside China.

Meanwhile, there were 12 new imported cases, brought in by foreign travellers flying in.

The country's current total of imported cases is currently 155, with strict measures in place to quarantine incoming travellers in designated hotels.

The new imported cases were brought into southern Guangdong – China's most populous province, Beijing and Shanghai.

Hubei province, which surrounds the killer flu's birthplace of Wuhan has seen dwindling case numbers for the last week, with single digits recorded daily over the last seven days.

Yesterday was similar, with just one domestic case but 20 imported cases.

As of today, the country has recorded 3,327 deaths.

Cases currently stand at 81,102 – but included in that number are scores of treated patients.

Previously China was home to 99 per cent of the world's coronavirus cases, but now has just 45 per cent.

Beijing is now worried about infection arriving from outside the country and now requires almost all international visitors to sit out a 14-day quarantine at designated isolation hotels.

China credits strict lockdown measures brought in at an early stage for "basically" flattening the curve.

Although some misinformation was spread to the rest of the world when the virus first emerged, authorities soon stepped up and locked down entire cities.

They also sprung up 14 coronavirus crisis centres to treat the overwhelming amount of patients – but the very last one has since been shut down as cases have spiralled.

The virus is now largely concentrated in Europe, with countries there bringing in Chinese-style measures including policing streets to send people home.
