Child molester who sexually abused nine boys while working at church and school is ‘killed in jail’ – The Sun
A PEDOPHILE convicted of molesting nine young boys was allegedly killed in a prison fight last week.
Cesar Pastrana, 33, died of his injuries after a brawl at Hancock County Jail, Georgia, where he had served eight years of his life sentence for child sex abuse, officials say.
The altercation occurred on March 13, and Pastrana died after being rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) have said his death is being investigated as a homicide.
In a statement, the GDC said: “Agents have reason to believe offender Cesar Pastrana died as a result of injuries sustained during an altercation involving another inmate on March 13.
“Medical personnel responded and life saving measures were performed. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 12:15pm by a hospital physician.”
In 2012, Pastrana, then a church volunteer, was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of child molestation, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
On February 10 that year, Pastrana was arrested after he volunteered to help at a weekend ‘lock-in’ event sponsored by a local church, and he was charged with molesting a juvenile.
In September, he pleaded guilty to 10 counts of child molestation, four counts of aggravated child molestation and one count of aggravated sodomy.
The incidents involved nine boys, including two relatives.
Pastrana had previously volunteered with Barber Middle School, Cobb County, and was dismissed following an incident with a student.
