Charles Bronson breaks silence over tragic death of wife Paula Williamson
“We were good friends and would always be”
Charles Bronson
In the letter he wrote: “I was truly shocked to hear about my wife Paula,”
“I’ve kept silent about it until now but I’ve been reading all the lies that the media have been printing which must be so upsetting for Paula’s parents and family.
“Saying that my moving on was the reason behind her tragic death is not true – she’d found someone else too and had even shown me photos of the matching tattoos she’d had done with her new geezer.
“In fact, I spoke to her the other week from the set of a new film she was making with Bruce Jones (who played Les Battersby in Coronation Street) and she was happy, full of life and cracking jokes.
“We were good friends and would always be.”
The former bare-knuckle boxer also refuted the suggestion he’s applied for permission to attend Paula’s funeral.
He wrote: “Bloody lies, all of it. I’ve not put in any application to do that, I’ve too much love and respect for the girl.
“A funeral should be a private thing and my presence would only turn it into a media circus and I’m sure her family and friends don’t want that.
“So to them I extend my deepest sympathies and I hope they give her the bloody good send-off she deserves.”
The letter also includes a poem he’s written for Paula.
It reads: “A tortured soul with a broken heart, Paula’s gone, she was torn apart.
“Goodbye sweetheart, you’re now free of pain. Sleep in peace, the angel came.”
Paula – who also appeared in Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Doctors – was thrown into the spotlight following her 2017 marriage to Charles Bronson, who now goes by the name Charles Salvador.
Bronson also revealed in the letter that he’s made a legal request to the Ministry of Justice to demand their wedding photos are released in time for her funeral so that she may be buried with them.
The couple had previously been told that, to avoid the possibility of them being made public via social media, the pictures would lie in storage until his eventual release from jail.
Bronson wrote: “Those photos were all Paula ever wanted.
“Yet, ever since her wedding day she’s been denied them – the only bride in Britain not to be able to remind herself of her big day. Now I hope she can be laid to rest with them.”
The inmate also claims that Paula – who had battled drink and drug addiction and suffered from depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder – had been let down by the system.
He said: “Why did rehab fail her? Why wasn’t she given the help she, and lots of others like her, so desperately needed?
“Tell you one thing, if I was on the outside this would never have happened. I would have had her eating well, taking care of herself and enjoying life.”
Bronson also has a message for the young man pictured with Paula in Tenerife: “Son, don’t blame yourself for all this – it’s not your fault. You were just a young lad on holiday having a good time.
“Paula was out enjoying herself too, she always was a flirt. But she was also very fragile and what happened was not down to you.”
