Charges against Conor McGregor DROPPED after fan’s phone smashed
The case involved Conor McGregor allegedly smashing a fan’s phone.
But the complainant has reportedly withdrawn statements he gave to police.
McGregor, 30, did not appear in court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
His defence lawyer Sam Rabin said he thought the hearing was an “appropriate resolution” for the case.
The court heard the complainant had stopped cooperating with police after settling a civil lawsuit with McGregor.
Prosecutor Khalil Madani added: “The victim of the crime does not wish to return to the United States and prosecute this case.”
A civil lawsuit filed against McGregor alleged he snatched the phone of a fan who took pictures of him.
It then claimed he smashed the phone on the ground after stamping on it.
As a result, McGregor was charged with third-degree felony robbery and misdemeanour sudden snatching.
The maximum sentence that could have been applied was five years in jail.
The Crumlin fighter pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Despite McGregor declaring himself retired from the sport, UFC boss Dana White said he expects him to fight again.
