Campus shooter suspect arrested after two police officers shot dead in rampage

An armed man has been arrested after sparking a huge manhunt when he allegedly killed two campus officers on an American college campus, police have said.

Alexander Wyatt Campbell, 27, of Ashland, Virginia, has been detained after he reportedly shot and killed two officers JJ Jefferson and John Painter on the grounds of Bridgewater College in Virginia, United States.

Virginia state police say Campbell opened fire and killed the two men after a brief discussion descended into violence.

He was spotted fleeing in the town of Bridgewater and was picked up by police after wading into an island in the middle of a river, reports wtvr.com.
