Kudlow sees possibility ‘something positive’ comes out of U.S.-China talks

National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said Friday he saw the potential for "something positive" to emerge from U.S.-China trade talks set to begin later this month. Appearing on CNBC, Kudlow said President Donald Trump believes the Chinese want to make a deal and that talks are continuing. Talks are scheduled at the deputy level in Washington for this month, and high-level officials including Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He will meet in early October, Kudlow said. He also called Friday’s jobs report a "blowout number," though the gain of 130,000 jobs was lower than expected. He focused on the household survey in the interview. Some 571,000 people entered the labor force in August and nearly 590,000 found work, that survey found. U.S. stocks DJIA, +0.30% opened higher after the government reported the jobs data.

Post Malone goes heavy metal with Ozzy Osbourne, Travis Scott on ‘Take What You Want’

Post Malone’s sung-rap trap music has never belonged to a distinct genre. With a new collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne, he’s adding heavy metal to the mix.

Malone’s new album “Hollywood’s Bleeding” dropped Friday, packed with collaborations from DaBaby, Halsey, Future, Meek Mill, Lil Baby, SZA, Swae Lee and Young Thug. “Take What You Want” features the most surprising combination of personalities, teaming Malone with Osbourne and rap superstar Travis Scott.

“Take What You Want” doesn’t venture too far into Osbourne’s metal underworld, featuring the rock legend delivering vocals in between verses from Malone and Scott before a snarling electric guitar outro.

Earlier this year, Osbourne was forced to postpone his “No More Tours 2” farewell tour following an injury he sustained while dealing with a bout of pneumonia.

“I can’t believe I have to reschedule more tour dates,” he said in a release. “Words cannot express how frustrated, angry and depressed I am not to be able to tour right now. I’m grateful for the love and support I’m getting from my family, my band, friends and fans, it’s really what’s keeping me going.”

Budgetary allocation to social sector will not be hit, says FM

‘Government is yet to decide on use of surplus funds transferred by RBI’

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Friday that while the government will look into any challenges being faced by the economy, it will not allow Budgetary allocations to the social sector to be affected.

She said this in response to a query on whether tax targets would be met in the wake of economic slowdown.

The Minister also said the government was yet to take a call on the utilisation of surplus funds transferred by the Reserve Bank of India.

Ms. Sitharaman, who was accompanied by the Revenue Secretary and the CBDT Chairman, said as part of an initiative to improve transparency, any notice issued by the Income Tax Department for tax claims from October 1 will have a distinct document identification number (DIN). This will be issued through a centralised process and with approval.

“We are adopting technology to make the process non-discretionary and transparent, she said.
