British girl, four, drowns in a hotel pool in Egypt after she ‘hit her head’ as her family hit out at the resort for only having one lifeguard working

  • Skia Watson, from Bristol, was on holiday at Seagull Beach Resort in Hurghada
  • Four-year-old was believed to have slipped and hit her head before she drowned
  • A lifeguard had jumped in the pool and pulled her out before she was give CPR 
  • Could not be revived, and family hit out at hotel saying only one guard working

A four-year-old British girl has drowned in a swimming pool in Egypt after she was believed to have slipped and hit her head.

Skia Watson from Bristol was out of sight of her family for a split second while on holiday at the Seagull Beach Resort in Hurghada, on the Red Sea, south of Cairo.

A lifeguard jumped in the pool and pulled her out before she was give CPR.

Skia could not be revived.

Her family – sister Lystasia, 11, cousin Mali Francis, 18, and Mali’s mother Shelley, 43, who were on holiday with her, and mother Elisha Williams (pictured) – has hit out at the hotel as they claim just one lifeguard was on shift around the large pool. They also claim he was not first aid trained

Mali told the Sun: ‘We lost sight of Skia for just a moment or two before she fell in but the lifeguard never saw her until it was too late.’

She claimed the lifeguard panicked and ran, carrying the child, leaving another person to give her CPR

Yet the four-star resort’s (pictured) manager denied this, saying: ‘It happened because the little girl was not being watched’
