The suspect, whose name and age has not been revealed, asked the alleged victim to go to the beach where they kissed and had consensual sex. 

At one point the young man, whose name has not been revealed, reportedly pulled out his mobile phone and began recording the encounter through Snapchat.

The Brit woman asked him to stop recording her, according to reports.

It was then that the French man allegedly forced himself on her and threatened her. 

He said that if she refused to continue having sex he would suffocate her, according to local media.

The Brit woman later reported the case to the Spanish Civil Guard. 

She pointed out the alleged attacker after a picture was shown to her by the officers and he was arrested shortly afterwards.

The young man claimed that the sex was consensual and denied recording her, claiming he only switched on the phone’s torch.

A Spanish Civil Guard spokesman said the man was arrested and charged with “sexual aggression with penetration”.

Police seized the phone as part of their investigation.

The victim was taken to the Son Espases hospital where a forensic doctor carried out a further examination.
