Brit man arrested in Menorca after partner, 53, is found dead in sea near their yacht ‘one hour after drunken row’ – The Sun

THE partner of a British woman whose body was found in a Menorca harbour hours after a reported drunken row was arrested after the discovery, it has emerged.

Andrea Leadenham, 53, was found dead in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and is thought to have fallen into the water and drowned while trying to board the couple's yacht.

Police were reportedly called to a bar just hours before the death to attend a public row between Leadenham and her 54-year-old partner Andrew Bulmer.

Well-placed sources have now revealed Bulmer was arrested in relation to the death before an autopsy confirmed Leadenham had died from drowning and that there were no signs of violence on her body.

Bulmer is expected to be formally told in the next few days he can leave the island and will not face any criminal charges over his partner’s death.

The post-mortem is said to have backed the original police theory that Leadenham slipped as she went to board the yacht after too many drinks.

Her body was found around 2.45am on Tuesday about 45 minutes after Civil Guard officers were called to a bar in Port d’Addaia, a port in the northeast of the Spanish island, to deal with reports of a row between the couple.

Mr Bulmer was alone when they arrived, telling officers his partner had already left the bar, and is believed to have been with officers when his partner's body was discovered.

One insider said: "Civil Guard arrested him on the orders of the court shortly after the body was discovered because at that point the autopsy had not taken place and the investigating judge wanted to ensure he didn’t leave the island before the results were in, in case they showed something untoward had happened.

"The autopsy has showed the British lady died by drowning."

Another well-placed source added that the post-mortem had "ruled out any foul play".

Port d’Addaia is set on the headland between the beaches of Cala Moli and a picturesque inlet, making for a perfect natural harbour.

It is also a residential area with a number of restaurants and bars.

There is no beach in Port Addadia, but there are two beaches west along the coast at Arenal den Castell and Son Parc, and another south east at Es Grau, which is part of a nature reserve.
