Brit holiday goers warned as peeing in Spanish sea could land you a £640 fine
British holiday goers could be slapped with a hefty fine should they decide to take a quick toilet break in the sea.
Officials in the coastal Spanish city of Vigo have declared that anyone found peeing “in the sea or on the beach” will face a punishment.
It has been labelled a “minor infraction” by the city's council, as well as being called an “infringement of hygiene and sanitary regulations”, local media reports state.
And to combat the filthy habit usually only done in times of desperate need, anyone found doing it will be charged £640.
As well as being punished for that, officials are also contemplating fining those who wash in the sea or leave rubbish on the beach – as well as those who take barbecues or gas cylinders on the sand, too.
How the urinating in the sea will be managed has not yet been made clear – especially as most people do it when already waist high in the water.
The warnings come just a few months after other Spanish areas are bringing in new rules to stop Brits from taking their kits off in the street,
The rule, which covers all of Spain, will see lairy Brits slapped with a £2,500 fine for going bare-chested off the beach, while women who are only wearing bikinis or swimwear will be given a £250 fine.

The harshest of the new rules will see anyone holidaying in Valencia given a whopping £1,240 fine for sleeping on the beach at night – and having a tent won't protect you from that rule, either.
And anyone going to Spain this summer who decides to light up a fag in public will be given a £25 fine if they do so at smoke-free beaches such as the ones in Galicia, Murcia, Catalonia, Andalusia, Asturias, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.
God help anyone who decides to pee in the sea while smoking, wearing no clothes and having a sandwich all at the same time.
