Brian Laundrie – GUN found off shore of park visited by fugitive's family where Dog the Bounty Hunter searched for him
A GUN was found in the area where Dog the Bounty Hunter searched for Brian Laundrie by a fisherman, reports say.
Christopher Sacco recalled how he caught what he thought was a large fish in Fort De Soto Park in Florida on Saturday – but it was actually a firearm instead.
The gun was reportedly found in a Publix shopping bag, reported the Tampa Bay Times.
Sacco and his friend were fishing near a playground area at the park at the time.
Sacco called the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to report the gun. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed deputies responded to a call at Fort De Soto at 11:46 a.m. Saturday.
Josh Benson, a WFLA-TV reporter, also confirmed on Twitter Tuesday that the Pinellas County Sheriff's office currently has the gun in evidence but hasn't given any further updates.
In the tweet, Benson wrote: "Checked in with the man who found the gun in #FortDeSoto more than a week ago. Says he only took one pic and turned gun over to Pinellas County authorities."
The weapon was entered into the Florida Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center.
DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER
Fort De Soto Park was one of the locations where Dog the Bounty Hunter was previously searching for Brian Laundrie.
Dog, whose real name is Duane Chapman, interrupted his Florida honeymoon with his new wife, Francie Frane, to join the manhunt for Laundrie.
The reality star told The Sun that he is calling off his search when human remains were found near items belonging to Laundrie at the T. Mabry Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on October 20.
The remains were later identified as Laundrie's via dental records.
“We are praying for Gabby’s family as yet another day ends with seemingly more questions than answers though it does seem the search for Brian is indeed over,” Chapman, 68, told The Sun as he expressed gratitude towards authorities working the case.
From the beginning, Chapman speculated that Laundrie's parents knew where their son was hiding and his alleged involvement in Gabby Petito’s murder.
“There will be time to ask questions such as what was the extent of the Laundries’ involvement in aiding Brian,” he said. “But now we wait.”
During his search for Laundrie, Chapman post chilling theories on the case. He revealed to The Sun that Laundrie could be a “serial killer.”
He told The Sun: “I’m thinking more and more about him being maybe a serial killer, not just a killer of Gabby.
Chapman’s involvement in the case drew criticism from some including the Laundries’ lawyer Steve Bertolino.
“Dusty relics like that Dog and John Walsh need a tragic situation like this so they can clear the cobwebs off their names and give their publicity-hungry egos some food,” he said.
GABBY PETITO
Laundrie and Peitio were on a cross-country road trip when the 22-year old went missing and never returned home. She was last seen on August 24, 2021, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Her body was later found on September 19 in Grand Teton National Park, and the cause of death was revealed to be strangulation.
At least ten bodies have been discovered across the US during the search for Gabby Petito’s murder near where the vlogger was killed and the place she and Laundrie traveled during their trip.
