BREAKING: Homes EVACUATED as huge blaze engulfs former factory building

Firefighters are currently tackling the blaze which has engulfed the former Fisons building at Paper Mill Lane, in Bramford.

Emergency services were called to the historic site at around 4.58am.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service say the blaze is currently affecting two four-storey buildings.

There are currently 14 fire service vehicles on the scene, including two aerial appliances.

Aerial photographs appear to show the main building engulfed in flames, with huge plumes of smoke coming from the area.

According to the Ipswich Star, Network Rail has been informed of the blaze following reports that a patch of grass close to the train line is also on fire.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said residents in the area have been asked to stay indoors and keep their doors and windows shut, as huge plumes of smoke cover the area.

The spokesman added that many residents had also been evacuated from their homes.
