Boy, 7, pens saddest letter to Santa saying ‘dad was mad’ after fleeing with mum to domestic violence shelter – The Sun
A YOUNG boy is breaking hearts across the globe after penning a desperate letter to Santa from a domestic violence shelter.
Seven year old Blake is living with his mother in a shelter for abuse victims in Texas.
The pair fled their home after a domestic violence situation, and had prepared to spend Christmas without any of their belongings or gifts.
But in a heart-wrenching note, Blake wrote to St Nick explaining their situation and asking for a present money can’t buy – “a very very very good dad.”
Blake told Santa that he and his mother had to leave home because his dad was mad.
He wrote: “We had to do all the chores. Dad got everything he wanted. Mom said it was time to leave and she would take us to a safer place where we don’t have to be scared.”
“I’m still nervous. I don’t want to talk to the other kids.”
Blake went on to ask Santa if he would be able to find him at his temporary home, and whether he will still visit as “we don’t have any of our stuff here.”
The young boy’s mother found the heart-wrenching note – which also asked for some chapter books, a dictionary, a compass and a watch – in a backpack and shared it with the SafeHaven of Tarrant County support staff.
With permission, a photo of Blake’s note was posted to Facebook and immediately took the attention of social media users.
Within 10 hours of posting, the letter had amassed more than 600 likes and attracted hundreds of well-wishers offering donations and support.
Blake’s prayers have thankfully been answered.
A spokesperson for SafeHaven wrote: "Thanks to your donations through Santa's sack, Blake is getting exactly what he asked for from Santa.”
"But with 117 women and children needing shelter this holiday season we need your help to make sure they have a safe place to stay throughout December."
The spokesman added that Blake and his mum are safe and posting the letter did not compromise their situation.
