Bloke smashes digger into house and flips car as onlookers try stop him

A man driving a JCB digger rammed into the front of a house while horrified onlookers attempted to stop him.

The driver appeared to run into the property in Blackwood, Wales just after midday on Tuesday (November 8).

Video footage taken from a parked car nearby showed the moment he crashed into the front wall of the home in what is thought to have been a deliberate attack.

The footage also shows the digger scraping a silver car parked nearby before raising the car up on its side, scraping it against the side of the red brick house, and sending it crashing back down to Earth.

Two witnesses were seen in the clip running up and down the driveway, waving their hands up and down in the air and appearing confused, WalesOnline reported.

They also appeared to be trying to stop the rogue driver, with one of them walloping the side of the digger's cabin.

The man then drove away in the digger, as shown in the video taken at the scene.

In the background of the clip, someone who seemed to be in a vehicle can be heard saying: "Got it all on film for you, alright mate? Got it all on film. F***ing d***head, what's he f***ing doing? F***ing joke."

Despite the suspect making a run for it, it seems he wasn't able to escape the law and the man was later arrested.

Gwent Police confirmed that they responded to a criminal damage report and had arrested a man in connection with the incident.

They have since confirmed that they are questioning the suspect.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At approximately 12.20pm today, we received a report of criminal damage being caused to a house in Woodfield, Blackwood.

"A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and drink driving and is currently in custody being questioned."

The extent of the damage to the house has not been confirmed.
