A woman who stumbled across two venomous snakes engaging in an intense fight to the death has captured the shocking footage on camera. 

Jenny Hillman was going for a walk near her property in Ballandean, Queensland – south of Stanthorpe near the New South Wales border – when she came across a red-bellied black snake battling it out with a larger snake.  

Ms Hillman couldn’t believe what she was seeing, so she pulled out her phone and started recording the intense battle between the two unlikely foes.

She then posted the footage to her Facebook, which shows a brown-coloured snake latching on to a red-bellied black snake, who was desperately trying to retreat.

‘At the river this morning !!!!!!! A truly gargantuan battle,’ Ms Hillman wrote. 

The video shows the red-bellied black snake repeatedly trying to fight off the brown-coloured snake by piercing its fangs into its opponent’s body.

At one point the red-bellied black snake tries to slither off, but he is unable to break free from the brown-coloured snake’s grasp.

Ms Hillman said she witnessed the snake battle (pictured) for more than an hour, but she confessed she wasn’t sure what type of snake the brown-coloured one was

 The post has since garnered plenty of reactions from astonished Facebook users, with many taking to social media to share their comments on the snake standoff. 

‘Jenny great footage mate. That would have been amazing to witness,’ one person wrote.

‘That’s absolutely amazing that you were able to capture this fight,’ another person said. 

A third person added: ‘What a sight to see!’

Ms Hillman said ultimately the brown-coloured snake (pictured) won in the end, but was bitten so many times by the black snake she doubts that he’ll end up surviving
