Bizarre optical illusion stuns internet as flowers appear to move on their own

A MIND-BOGGLING optical illusion has left online users scratching their heads after flowers appear to move in a stationary image.

The optical illusion was posted on popular social media site reddit by a user called Einstein and is captioned "flowers appear to expand".

It shows rows of purple and yellow flowers in a kaleidoscope style which incredibly appear to shrink or grow.

The post is not a video or a GIF which means everything should be still but the illusion deceives our eyes to make the flowers seem like they are moving on their own.

A user who was stunned by the effect, said: "I was convinced this was a video."

"How people not seeing anything I can barely stare at it without wincing," said a second.

One user said: "This is one of the most intense variations of this illusions I've ever seen. The expansion I see is extremely quick."

"Bloomed my day," another quipped.

While some were left impressed, others were adamant that they couldn't see the flowers moving at all.

One redditor commented: "I got nothing. Just a picture with clashing color."

Another said: "Nope. I can’t see it, even when I switch to magic eye 3d mode."

Some redditors tried to help out by giving additional tips and pointed out that the illusion is stronger depending on which area you focus on.

One said: "You have to slowly bring the screen towards your face.

"On my laptop it works. Sent it to a friend, doesn't work on my phone."

"It works, you guys just need to keep hovering your eyes from one flower to another. It is also much more noticeable on bigger displays," another user advised.

Another optical illusion recently went viral after an image of a ball appeared to shake despite being completely still.

Meanwhile a headache-inducing album cover had people rubbing their eyes and even revealed a hidden message.
