The inebriated Polish citizen, along with a friend, decided to take the veteran war machine for a drive after it became detached from a towing vehicle.

A video shows the moment the 49-year-old man stormed down a road in the town of Pajeczno in central Poland.

The men appeared at ease as they drove past a small crowd of seemingly entertained onlookers.

According to the police, the tank belonged to the man despite him not being legally licensed to drive this type of military vehicle.

The tank itself was also not insured.

Local law enforcement detained the 49-year-old who was later confirmed to have been inebriated.

The police had the tank driven away by a veteran who was legally licensed to drive this type of armoured vehicle.

It is not clear when the incident happened but the video was posted to YouTube on June 14, where it has been seen more than 34,000 times.

It is not the first time people have found themselves caught up in drunken antics.

One man claimed to have spent £4,000 during an online drunken shopping spree.

His purchases included a faux fur pimp coat and bongos.

And one bloke managed to convince tourists that he was a policewoman, after dressing up as one on a stag do.
