WASHINGTON — President Biden said Friday that most Americans will have received the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of summer.

Biden made the optimistic projection after announcing Thursday that the country had secured in total 300 million doses of the vaccines, enough to “vaccinate all Americans.”

“Our hope is that we’ll be able to, by the end of the summer, everybody have, almost everybody, 300 million shots into arms,” Biden told reporters as he went for a morning stroll with the first lady and their two dogs.

“But it’s gonna take time,” he added.

During his first appearance at the National Institutes of Health Thursday, the president announced the US has secured another 200 million coronavirus vaccines.

The country had already purchased 100 million doses each from Pfizer and Moderna, bringing the total stockpile to 600 million — enough for every American adult to get the two-dose regime.

The Biden administration has vowed to get 100 million shots into the arms of Americans by their 100th day in office at the end of April.

But the effort has been hampered by distribution problems in the various states. So far, 46 million of the 68 million jabs distributed have been administered.

Last month, Biden announced he would accelerate the sluggish level of state by state COVID-19 vaccination rates by employing FEMA and the National Guard and standing up 100 federal vaccination sites.

Two New York sites in Queens and Brooklyn will be operational later this month and will will vaccinate approximately 3,000 New Yorkers each day, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced this week.
