Benin lake community: Fishermen struggle to stay afloat
For more than 250 years, people have been living on the water in what’s thought to be Africa’s largest lake community.
Homes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes – including some on stilts, perched precariously over a lake in Benin.
The African fishing community on the edge of Lake Nokoue has managed to preserve its lifestyle and traditions for more than two centuries.
Al Jazeera’s Ama Boateng reports from the village of Ganvie.
