The BBC Weather forecast has predicted this bank holiday sunshine to roll into next week as the UK welcomes in the beginning of June and the start of “meteorological summer.” Ms Keith-Lucas has promised the rise in temperature over the weekend is set to stay thanks to a front of high-pressure weather moving in. The weatherwoman also insisted that alongside drier days and clearer skies Britons will be able to enjoy barmy spells of 23 degrees in places.

Ms Keith-Lucas told BBC Breakfast: “Temperatures up to around 19, 20 degrees on Saturday so that little warmer tomorrow compared with what we have got out there today.

“And high pressure holding on into Sunday as well so another dry day, light winds around on Sunday and more in the way of sunshine I think compared to Saturday.

“So those temperatures are going to be a little bit higher.

“Around 23 degrees or so in fact across southern England, Wales, even part of Scotland 21 or 22 degrees as well.”

The weatherwoman added: “It looks like that high pressure is sticking around for the bank holiday Monday as well so another dry day.

“And again those temperatures up to around 23 degrees or so.

“The high pressure sticks around in fact for a few more days yet.

“So into Tuesday, we could see highs up to 24 degrees so the start of meteorological Summer is on the way,” added the meteorologist.

“Tuesday is the first of June, the start of meteorological summer and at last the weather is turning a little bit more summerly.”

Looking to today, Keith-Lucas said: “Rain this morning through the Irish sea coast so parts of western England, Wales, Northern Ireland and south-west Scotland seeing some paltry rain

“Whereas further east most places are staying predominantly dry with just one or two isolated showers for the likes of Northumbria down towards Norfolk as well.

“Now in the sunny spells later on the top temperatures will get into about 18 or 19 degrees for some of us.

“But a little bit cooler across parts of Scotland particularly Aberdeen for instance with cloudier skies only about 13 degrees.

“Into the evening hours, one or two of those showers in the east are tending to linger for a while.

“But they will fade away and it is becoming drier towards the west as well

“Perhaps just a little bit of drizzle left by the time we get to Saturday morning.”
