This is the moment a BBC presenter was left bleeding on live television after shaving with a ‘cheap razor’.

BBC news correspondent Simon Jack was giving a report on Tuesday about the Government’s plan to rescue struggling British airline Flybe, but viewers were left distracted by a cut on his chin.

Footage shows Mr Jack ‘bleeding his way’ through the report, dabbing the cut with a tissue.

The news correspondent was giving a report on Tuesday about the Government’s plan to rescue struggling British airline Flybe 

Following the unfortunate mishap, Mr Jack tweeted: ‘The perils of shaving with a cheap razor before doing a live. Bled my way through a two way on the one o’clock news.’

BBC presenter Simon McCoy replied: ‘The director’s cut.’

Another Twitter user wrote: ‘You’re lucky it didn’t go on your shirt’.

A third said: ‘It looked like a bad one. We’ve all been there… perhaps without the national audience.’

During the live report, Mr Jack spoke about the problems faced by the Government over their plan to rescue Flybe.

He said:  ‘Now they’ve got a couple of problems, one is the government is ideologically opposed to using government money to prop up individual failing businesses, witness what happened with Thomas Cook, British Steel, Monarch Airlines and others.

Mr Jack tweeted about the mishap afterwards, joking about the ‘perils’ of shaving with a cheap razor. BBC presenter Simon McCoy joked it was the ‘director’s cut’

‘And also not that but it might break the EU state aid rules. So they’re trying to come up with a package that will get money to Flybe but they will have to make that available to others, and I’m told it could involve tweaks to the air passenger duties fares on domestic routes which would come out in the Budget. 

‘But they’ve met this morning, they’re going to put those proposals to the company this afternoon, any deal would require the current owners putting in tens of millions more in capital. 

‘But as I say, very delicate balance to strike between supporting an individual company, not breaking state aid and of course the environmental lobby will say ‘what on Earth are you doing subsidising air travel in a time when we’re trying to reduce climate omissions?’ 

‘So a very delicate balance on the future of this airline, very much in the balance.’
