Krispy Kreme Honors Apollo 11 With Free Doughnuts On Saturday
Doughnut maker Krispy Kreme is offering free doughnuts on Saturday, June 22 in honor of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 moon landing.
The American doughnut company and coffeehouse chain, owned by JAB Holding Co., said all its visitors on that day will get a free taste of its Original Filled Doughnut.
Krispy Kreme said the doughnuts are available only at Krispy Kreme stores, and until supplies last.
The company had introduced the “Original Filled” doughnut on Monday, celebrating the moon landing anniversary. The new product is a twist on its classic Original Glazed doughnut with a choice of two fillings.
According to Krispy Kreme’s website, the free doughnuts come in Classic Kreme and Chocolate Kreme flavor.
While announcing the product, the company tweeted, “One small bite for man. One giant leap for doughnut-kind! Original Filled Doughnuts are blasting off in honor of #Apollo11 50th anniversary!”
In a statement, Dave Skena, chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme, noted that Krispy Kreme was at the launch of Apollo 11, serving fresh doughnuts to Americans witnessing liftoff of this monumental mission.
NASA’s Apollo 11 lifted off atop a Saturn V rocket with Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins on July 16, 1969.
Sanofi Says FDA To Review Meningococcal Vaccine Candidate MenQuadfi
French pharma major Sanofi (SNYNF,SNY) announced Thursday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted for review the Biologics License Application or BLA for MenQuadfi, a meningococcal vaccine candidate. The target action date for the FDA decision is April 25, 2020.
The company noted that the BLA is for MenQuadfi Meningococcal (Groups A, C, Y, W) Polysaccharide Tetanus Toxoid Conjugate Vaccine candidate to help prevent meningococcal meningitis.
Sanofi’s recently submitted BLA includes positive data from Phase II and Phase III clinical trials held in the U.S. to seek an indication for use of the vaccine in persons 2 years of age and older. If approved, MenQuadfi will be available in a fully liquid presentation.
The company has performed Phase II and Phase III trials in the U.S., the European Union, Asia and Latin America. Sanofi is conducting additional Phase III trials in these same regions and Africa.
MenQuadfi’s safety and efficacy data have not yet been evaluated by any regulatory authority.
H&M Group Q2 Profit Declines
Swedish retailer Hennes & Mauritz AB or H&M Group (HNNMY.PK,HMRZF.PK,HEN.L) reported that its profit for the second-quarter declined to 4.57 billion Swedish kronor from 4.64 billion kronor in the previous year. Earning per share declined to 2.76 kronor from 2.80 kronor in the prior year.
“As customer satisfaction and sales increase, the group has intensified its transformation work even further, which had a dampening effect on earnings development,” the company said in a statement.
But, net sales increased by 11 percent to 57.47 billion kronor from 51.98 billion kronor last year. Net sales increased by 6 percent from last year, in local currencies.
The company said it is accelerating its adaptation to customers’ changed shopping patterns and has therefore revised the number of new stores downwards in favour of even more digital investments. The net addition of new stores for full-year 2019 will therefore be around 130, which is 45 fewer than previously communicated.

Man (58) arrested on suspicion of intimidating Revenue officer during CAB search
Gardaí have arrested a man (58) as part of a CAB search operation this morning in Wexford.
The man was arrested on suspicion of intimidating a Revenue Bureau Officer.
He is currently detained at Wexford Garda Station.
“The man has been arrested under Section 13 of the CAB Act 1996 on suspicion of intimidating a Revenue Bureau Officer of the Criminal Assets Bureau,” said a garda spokesperson.

Lebanese finance minister says "matters are under control"

Rights group accuses Eritrea of persecuting exiled activists
Amnesty International report says Eritrea’s human rights activists not safe even if living abroad.
Amnesty International has released a report documenting the cases of harassment and intimidation against Eritrean human rights activists over the last eight years.
The rights group says the government wants to silence its critics abroad, especially those in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Kenya and some European countries.

A post-mortem later revealed Marleigh died of “acute heroin and cocaine intoxication in a setting of co-sleeping”.
Danville Police Lieutenant Richard Chivvis said: “The child had enough cocaine and heroin metabolites in her system to kill her.”
This week, seven months after the little baby’s death, Brumfield and Chandler were charged with felony homicide and neglect of a child.
They are being held in Danville City jail without bail ahead of their trial.
