Conan, the hero Delta Force dog that chased ISIS boss Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi into a tunnel in Syria, has an equally impressive lookalike.

US special forces troops regularly employ Belgian Malinois dogs on their missions. They’re tough, fierce, loyal and – as our video shows – impressively athletic.

Twitter user Jason Howerton posted a video, originally uploaded by Turkish social media celebrity Köksal Akın, of a Malinois leaping an extraordinary distance into the air in order to tear a flag off a pole before landing neatly on a crash mat, before vaulting from his trainer's back to climb a high wall and diving through a half-open window.

He captioned the clip "Conan training after he heard ISIS has a new leader" referring to the Delta Force pooch. Conan was named after chat show host Conan O’Brien because they both have shaggy hair.

Jason concedes that the clip isn’t really the four-legged hero of Idlib, but it's undoubtedly the kind of thing the mighty Malinois is capable of.

Malinois are often seen competing in dog agility trials and in dock diving, flyball, herding, obedience, showmanship, and tracking events.

They’re one of the most popular breeds used in protection sports such as the Schutzhund. In America, herding is a popular activity.

They have also been described as a "game changer" in the fight against rhino poaching in South Africa's Kruger National Park. One particular dog, menacingly named K9 Killer, has been responsible for more than 100 arrests.

Conan isn’t the first celebrated War Dog.

In 2011, United States Navy SEALs used a Belgian Malinois named "Cairo" in Operation Neptune Spear, the mess which resulted in the death of Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden
