Aurora teen arrested after gun misfires at house party, killing 17-year-old

An Aurora teenager was arrested Sunday after a gun accidentally discharged during a house party, killing a 17-year-old.

The suspect, who was not named because he is also 17, was arrested on investigation of felony manslaughter and one count of a juvenile in unlawful possession of a handgun, Aurora police said in a news release Monday.

The shooting occurred around 10:45 p.m. Sundayh in the 1700 block of Fulton Street. The victim was showing a friend how to disassemble a handgun when the weapon fired, striking the victim in the chest, police said.

The teen was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The victim will be identified by the Adams County coroner.
