Armed police have rushed to the scene of an apparent hostage situation inside an Apple store, where there has been reports of gunfire.
The incident is taking place in the store in Amsterdam, Netherlands and was caught on camera by several horrified onlookers.
In one part of one video a suspect appears to be holding a hostage at gunpoint as police frantically rush around outside.
In another clip, the gun-toting man waves his firearm and kicks the window as he holds the visibly distressed victim in a headlock-typed clinch as the former boots the window and remosntrates with police.
Amsterdam police said in a brief statement: “There’s a police operation due to a call at a store on Leidseplein.”
The incident began at 5:40 pm on Tuesday when police were called for a possible robbery at the Apple Store, but it appears to have escalated into a hostage situation.
Leidseplein is in the centre of the Dutch capital, not far from the Van Gogh museum.
According to BNO News, witnesses have reported hearing gunfire.
A Tik Tok video posted by someone in a building across the street from the scene was labelled with the caption 'overval,' which means 'robbery' in Dutch.
A large number of emergency services, including special police units, are at the scene.
