Nanogold Treatment In The Making For Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. Studies have shown that 1 in 9 men on average, is diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.

A first-in-human trial, which evaluated Nanospectra Biosciences’ investigational device AuroLase in men with low-to-intermediate grade tumors within the prostate, has yielded positive results.

The AuroLase therapy involves intravenous administration of laser-excited gold-silica nanoparticles, called AuroShells. These AuroShells get accumulated within the solid tumor tissue when administered and the tumor is illuminated with a near-infrared laser. When exposed to the laser, these nanoparticles were able to ablate tumor tissues in a controlled manner, causing only minimum side effects.

If all goes well as planned, the company hopes to gain FDA clearance for its AuroLase device by the middle of 2021.

Let’s take a look at the drugs that passed muster with the FDA in August 2019.

Cathay Pacific says Chairman John Slosar resigns

Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Airways said on Wednesday that its Chairman John Slosar had resigned from the board and will be replaced by Patrick Healy, a long-time executive at the airline's top shareholder Swire Pacific Ltd.

The resignation and appointment will take effect at Cathay's annual meeting on Nov 6, the carrier said in a statement.

Slosar's resignation follows the departure of CEO Rupert Hogg last month, after the Chinese aviation regulator increased scrutiny on the airline and its staff members following anti-government protests in Hong Kong.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton sets Guinness world record for one-handed catches

Cam Newton has written himself into the record books — The Guinness Book of World Records.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback caught 51 passes one-handed in a span of 60 seconds from Candler Hallow, a member of YouTube star MrBeast's crew, who were at Bank of America Stadium in July to help Newton set the record. Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry and former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn previously held the Guinness record with 48 one-handed catches in a minute.

Newton has touted his hands as among the best in the league since being drafted in 2011. There was some controversy over whether some of his receptions counted since he trapped the ball against his body, but he still secured enough to stand atop the list alone.

"That is going up in my house, man," Newton said when he received a plaque commemorating the record.

"I wouldn't have been able to do that without my quarterback,'' Newton added. "I just feel like we have a bond for the rest of our life. Like Jack and Rose."

The video showed Newton setting a pair of other records. He threw an underhand pass 39 yards to a different member of MrBeast's team, Garrett Niconienko, setting a new mark for the longest catch between the legs.

Newton also completed a 24-yard toss with a blindfolded Hallow to set the record for longest pass to a blindfolded, moving target.
