Amber Alert as girl, 1, snatched by her dad as cops warn she’s in ‘extreme danger’
AN Amber Alert has been issued for a one-year-old girl who is believed to be in “extreme danger” after being abducted by her father.
Baylee Sue Peeples was taken from her grandmother's home just before 2am on Thursday by Robert Peeples, 39, who was described as a “non-custodial parent”, Arcade Police Department in Georgia said.
The term refers to a parent who isn't allowed custody as the result of a court order.
Baylee Sue was last seen at a home on Rock Forge Road in Jefferson and it is feared her father could be taking her elsewhere in the state or Mississippi.
The youngster is described as three feet tall, weighing 25lbs, with blue eyes and blonde hair.
Baylee Sue was last seen wearing a pink shirt decorated with hearts with words "Always Amazing" and a pink-and-black jacket with "Love" printed on it.
The youngster's mum told Channel 2 that Peeples was dropping her and her daughter off at her mother’s house but wouldn’t let Baylee get out of the car.
He told her that unless she got in the van she wouldn't see Baylee Sue again but when she went to grab her daughter, drove off.
“I just wish he would bring her home to me," she said.
Robert Peeples is described as 5-foot-10 and weighing 187lbs, with blue eyes and blond buzz-cut hair.
He is possibly driving a white 1993 GMC Vandura van with a Georgia registration RIK1620.
Peeples reportedly has a criminal record dating back to the 1990s, which includes convictions on theft and marijuana charges.
An Amber Alert is a child abduction alert system that has been used in the United States since 1996.
It is named after Amber Hagerman, a nine-year-old who was abducted a murdered in Texas that year.
Messages are sent via radio stations, text and email and are also displayed on traffic road signs.
